Starlight Ferries

Starlight Ferries has commissioned the MV Mersey Rose, a retired Bembridge lifeboat, registered to carry 12 passengers.

Our final scheduled sailing is Friday 12th August 2016 in the evening .

Built in 1988, this Mersey class RNLI lifeboat was first used in active service at Bridlington Lifeboat Station until 1995 when she became a relief boat. With an aluminium hull the Mersey class could be launched down a slipway; moved across a beach on a carriage; on kept on a mooring.

On board the Starlight Ferry, accommodation is simple rather than sumptuous. This is a lifeboat, built to get you ashore safely. There are no loos, and no coffee; which also means no queueing...

There are three very steep steps down into the main cabin and the forward cabin (known as the 'Survivors cabin') is reached through the engine room.

Starlight Ferries hope you will regard the experience as adventure filled and fun, with potential for tall stories afterwards. To see what the cabin looks like go to our Facebook page and watch the BBC South Today news report.

Dogs and bicycles can be transported, for free. The former must be cuddled throughout the crossing and the latter will be on deck, lashed to the rail and will probably get wet.

If you are one of our lovely CROWDFUNDERS you can use your contribution to claim free travel (to the value of your pledged amount).

BOOKING a place is a commitment by us to get you there; and by you to pay.

However, the skipper reserves the right to refuse passage if the safety of other passengers or crew is considered to be at risk.

If you book - please turn up.
We shall do our best to hold your place for you and may have to turn someone else away.

If you need to cancel a booking - please let us know as soon as possible, you can use the CONTACT page to e-mail us.
